I was an intern in Danske Markets, London, in summer 2008 and started full-time on Sept. 1. 2009. I chose to seek employment in Danske Markets because of my previous positive experience with the organisation and its solid reputation in the market place.
Graduate programme
During my first 12 months, I participate in the Bank’s Graduate Programme. This programme is designed to facilitate networking among newly hired graduates across the group. Arrangements are made for participation in external training in order to support my personal and professional development. In addition, the graduate group meets with key executives during presentations from the bank’s different business units.
I am based in the Corporate Solutions team in Danske Markets but will rotate to different units in Danske Markets in order to broaden my understanding of the different products that we offer.
Providing corporates with the right solutions
In the Corporate Solutions team we provide advice to Danske’s core corporate clients on matters such as capital structure, funding and risk management. Our clients are mainly large Nordic corporates. We add value by providing advice for top management ensuring that corporate strategy and financial strategy become closely aligned. We help to position the bank as a highly professional sparring partner, boost client intelligence and in the end increase the amount of business being done.
Due to the broad nature of this work, I will get significant exposure within Danske Markets and over time I will be exposed to management of large corporate clients that benefit from our analysis.
Learning from talented colleagues
The working environment in the bank is informal. With a mentor by your side and next to your boss you quickly get interesting tasks to work with.
A key advantage of my job is that I can continually develop and improve myself – both professionally and personally. There is so much to learn, and many talented and experienced people in my team to support my development.
Networking
I have great opportunities to expand my network. Although I work in a specialised team, my boss and my mentor have ensured that I have had conversations with staff from other departments. It has given me a good overview of the organization and the services and products that the bank offers to clients.
In five years: I see myself continuing to work in Danske Markets. I have expanded my responsibility and developed my personal and professional capabilities. |
