What we say is noticedWhat we say is noticed

I started working in Danske Bank in 2002 when I took a student job for 20 hours a week – in the same department in which I work today. At that time I wanted to study macro analysis in combination with a financial market. This was very relevant to my studies because I was able to sit with my textbooks or lecture notes and transfer what I had learnt directly to specific assignments. It was a really fantastic experience. Today, I am one of the staff that has new students working on our research projects, and it’s interesting to be the one who challenges them professionally.

Part of a large web
My job involves analysing the American economy. I keep an eye on the general state of the economy and assess in which direction the US Federal Reserve Bank is moving. This information is inputted into internal research, which is widely used.  Everything is a wire works of how things interconnect; I am one element in that web. I really have been given an interesting area. It’s varied, hectic and is very significant for the processes that occur in the bank.

What we say is noticed
The target audience for research is very broad, and the material is also used by other analysts and communicated to customers, the press and internally.

Our research findings are noticed. When our opinions filter out to the press they often receive considerable attention. We are listened to. Naturally, it’s annoying if I’m wrong – but on the other hand it’s great if I’m right.

Short and rapid decision chain
Many people possibly have an impression of Danske Bank as a rigid and dreary group, but my experience from Danske Markets paints a totally different picture. The Danske Bank Group is a very dynamic workplace with a short and rapid decision chain.

Dynamic and hectic environment
From all angles this is an exciting place in which to work. I have gained an insight into many areas and connections which I can use further in my career. Sometimes, I don’t always know what I will be working on when I arrive in the mornings, and that can only be interesting. I have developed extensive contacts both inside and outside the Bank, and have also built up a substantial network. I think it is exciting to use one’s skills in so many areas in the financial world.

Good basic knowledge and long learning curve
I have acquired a really good basic knowledge which I can use further in my career. I enjoy the challenges both on a professional and a personal level. It’s enlightening to take decisions and see them interact with so many other people. Nonetheless, it’s a long learning curve, and I continually become wiser about how everything fits together.

Leisure: I restore old houses. Also I like to go for long walks, run or go cycling in the countryside.

Best staff benefits: For me, one of the best benefits is the possibility of having a home office space and that we also have flexitime. This makes it easier to move everything onto a higher plane.

In five years: In the financial sector possibly with staff and management responsibilities. There are many options however, so it could be that I would like to try something else in the long term. Possibly in another division in the Danske Bank Group, but with management responsibilities.
